Sharapova Maria beats Henin-Hardenne at US Open  
Russian Tennis Player Maria Sharapova became US Open champion in 2006. She overpowered Belgian Henin-Hardenne with impressive results in just two sets with final results 6:4, 6:4. Her victory brought her another 1.7 million dollars which in addition to 20 million dollars she makes from sponsoring companies such as Canon and others.

Sharapova did not do too well at the begging of the match and lost on her serve to her opponent and let her to leap with the 2:0 lead. However during third game she came back strong and leveled out Henin-Hardenne advantage in score. Then in 9th game she was able one more time to take opponents set and was victorious to the end of the first set 6:4

Second game was equally well played by both tennis players until Sharapova capitalized on opponents mistakes and took 7th game of the first set. After gaining one game lead it was just good and solid defense by Sharapova as well as well executed last game against Henin-Hardenne that let her to celebrate victory in New York.

She is the only Russian female player to reach two finals at Wimbledon and US Open.
